EDM Community

Although the EDM community doesn’t always share the same opinion, the moments of similarity outweigh all of those issues. It is truly amazing how our community comes together in just the right moments.
Last night I went back to College Night at Cowboys Dancehall in Arlington and it was a great experience. I hadn’t gone in months because all they played was rap, and that’s fine, but I don’t want to dance to rap. The overall crowd had gotten simply “Ratchet”, I didn’t feel like it was somewhere I could dance and just enjoy the music anymore. Now Cowboys is no longer sponsored by Dallas Entourage on College Nights and the difference is amazing. There was rap, trap, progressive house, and EDM classics. When “Better Off Alone” by Alice Deejay started playing the energy of the entire club rose in unison. Our community is awesome because we all share the love of EDM as a whole. Remember PLUR is key.

To my girls in the EDM scene…

I am an active member of several EDM groups through social media. The most commonly used group is the “EDM Family” group on Facebook. This group has roughly 15 thousand members located around the world and is rapidly growing. There are constantly guys and girls expressing their want for a special someone to share EDM moments with. One unfortunate thing that falls true to all of the posts is that the Raver/EDM girls are constantly referred to as “Hoes”. When I suggest a group for dating within the EDM scene the comments are either include encouragement for that idea (mostly from girls), and the guys saying something among the lines of, “The thirst in that group would be too high”…. It’s disappointing that this is how us girls in the EDM scene are perceived because I know not all of us are like that. I think something has to change…

EDC Dallas… A no go

I know this is old news but I’m still very much disappointed about EDC Dallas being cancelled this year. Like many other Texas EDM Ravers I can’t make my way out to Vegas or New York, so that’s that. No EDC for me this year. It’s annoying how a few bad seeds can ruin an event for an entire state…

The reason I shuffle

There aren’t many female shufflers in the EDM scene and I’m proud to be one of them. The reason I shuffle? It’s fun, good exercise that makes me look awesome on the dance floor. Yeah I get fist bumped by guys, but to me that’s better than being grinded on by them. And it also keeps girls from trying to booty dance on me 😛 Unfortunately I live in Texas, where there aren’t hardly any shufflers. It feels like it’s me against everyone dancing up on each other

Always looking for new tracks

Sometimes it seems like music in the EDM scene is slim pickins. You’ve got your big progressive house, electro, dubstep and trap artists like Zedd, Steve Aoki, DJ Snake, etc. but when you’ve heard everything these guys have to offer at this point then what are you supposed to do? Don’t get me wrong I love all the big artists, but I’m an EDM junkie that’s on a daily search for something new. That’s why I’m starting a site for new artists to be discovered.

You guys see this EDM “Family”?

I’m part of the EDM Family on several social media sites. Although it is called a “Family”, and we’re supposed to be sharing our opinions and finding other people who love the same genre’s and artist, it is nothing but alot people with too much time on their hands. Some talk about drugs, others talk about how EDM changed their life. No matter what anyone has to say, there’s always some a**hole who has to open their mouth. I want to join a group that doesn’t seem to have these stupid petty issues.
